Wednesday Night's Action
At Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, recently graduated AIC Yellow Jacket Jimmy Flahive (W) was masterful on the hill, as PeoplesBank beat DiFranco Realty 6-1. Flahive cruised through six strong innings, striking out seven while allowing four hits, and an earned run. TCL veteran Andrew Gaines (MCLA) took the ball in the seventh, where the big righty tossed a 1-2-3 inning to close the game out. Reigning league MVP Dave Clark (AIC) had two hits, including a double, and scored twice, while first baseman Kyle Platner (Elms) also collected a pair of hits, knocking in a run, and also scoring twice. DiFranco had a rally going in the top of the fifth when DH Alex Provost doubled to right, and SS Ty Emet (Elms) knocked him in with a double to left. DiFranco then loaded the bases, but Flahive settled down and shut the door allowing no further damage. Darien Rosado threw four strong innings in the loss, turning it over to John Carmel, who threw two perfect innings to cool the Bankers' bats in the sixth and seventh. With the win, PeoplesBank (5-1) sits four points behind league-leading Bank ESB in the standings. DiFranco Realty falls to 2-4, and in fourth place. The two teams meet again on the 24th at East Longmeadow High School.
