St. Joe’s Baseball Club could not keep pace with
PeoplesBank, losing 6-1 on Friday at the Joe’s in Thorndike.
People’s Bank got on the board in the first inning
after Ferrentino singled, scoring two runs. The Bankers added to their early
lead in the top of the third inning after Ferrentino was struck by a pitch,
and Rivest hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring.
Jackson Petrin took the mound first for St. Joe’s
Baseball Club. The left-hander gave up five hits and six runs (three earned)
over six innings, striking out three and walking four.
Veteran lefty Danny Gaines started for PeoplesBank,
allowing one hit and no runs over two innings, striking out none and walking
two.
Aaron Little had the Saints' RBI.
Jake Petrin went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the
Saints in hits. Greg Vouros paced St. Joe’s Baseball Club with two walks.
Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the
game.
Ferrentino provided pop in the middle of the lineup,
and led the Bankers with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on
the day. Dave Clark went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead PeoplesBank in hits. The
Bankers played solid D – turning three double plays in the game without
committing an error.
St. Joe’s Baseball Club next plays at home on Monday
against Teddy Bear Pool. PeoplesBank next hosts the rematch at Mackenzie on
Tuesday at 7:00 pm. |
