Calderon and Valentino Go Deep in the Third as bankESB Hold Off DOC Spartans, 10–5

bankESB needed just two innings on Wednesday at Bullens Field to turn this one into a comfortable evening. A four-run first gave them the lead, back-to-back home runs in the third blew it open, and Griffin Gauthier did the rest on the mound — the final a 10–5 bankESB win over DOC Spartans to close out the regular season.

DOC actually struck first. An ESB error and a Patrick Hefner single down the left-field line in the top of the first each scored a run to give the Spartans an early 2–0 lead. bankESB answered immediately and emphatically. Dan Provost singled to score one, James Rocco doubled to score two, and Joshua Pacho drew a walk that plated a fourth — a four-run bottom of the first that wiped out the Spartans' lead and set the tone for the night. Then came the third, when Albert Calderon and Nick Valentino hit back-to-back home runs to stretch the ESB advantage to 9–2 and put the game well out of reach.

Gauthier earned the win in workmanlike fashion, going 6⅓ innings and allowing eight hits and five runs — three earned — while striking out three and walking two. Jack Stathatos came on in relief to record the save, capping a clean finish after Gauthier's exit. Stathatos also contributed on offense, going 3-for-4 to lead ESB in hits, and Calderon finished 1-for-4 with three RBI to pace the lineup. Valentino added two hits to go with his home run.

Anthony Rosado took the loss for DOC, allowing nine runs on nine hits over five innings while striking out six — a tough outing despite the strikeout total. Aidan Sullivan and Daniel Spaulding each collected two hits for the Spartans, Ramos drove in two from the three-hole, and Spaulding swiped two bases. DOC finishes their regular season with this defeat; bankESB closes the books on the year with a statement win at home.
