Fournier Blanks bankESB as Teddy Bear Rolls to 10–0 Mercy-Rule Win

Five runs in the first — including a Rosemond two-run single and a three-run error — set the tone; Magni steals four and Fournier fans seven in a dominant playoff opener

Teddy Bear Pools and Spas didn't need long to make their statement on Monday at South Hadley High School. Five runs in the bottom of the first inning — a Sean Rosemond two-run single and a three-run error — announced the tone of the afternoon, and Brenden Fournier made sure nothing else needed to be said. The right-hander went all five innings, allowed zero runs, and the game ended on the mercy rule: Teddy Bear 10, bankESB 0.

The first inning set the table emphatically. Rosemond singled to score two, and a bankESB error let three more cross — five runs before the visitors could get their footing. Willie Landman added a sacrifice fly in the second to push it to 6–0, and in the third, Will Kennedy tripled to right field, another error plated a run, and Landman singled down the left-field line to make it 8–0. By the time the final out was recorded in the fifth, Teddy Bear had scored 10 runs on errors and timely hitting, and bankESB had never found an answer.

Fournier was the story on the mound — seven strikeouts, one walk, four hits allowed, and a shutout across five innings. His pitch count of efficiency made for one of the cleaner complete-game efforts the TCL postseason will see. Ryan Magni was the story on the bases, swiping four bags from the top of the lineup while also going 2-for-3 to lead Teddy Bear in hits. Rosemond and Landman each drove in two runs. Mike Toth contributed two walks and two stolen bases and handled eight defensive chances without an error — the cleanest game behind the plate the AC could ask for in a playoff opener.

Stathatos took the loss for bankESB, lasting 2⅔ innings and allowing nine runs — four earned — on four hits with four walks, before the bullpen inherited a situation that had already gotten away. Stathatos did go 2-for-2 at the plate to lead ESB offensively, and the club turned a double play in the field. But in a game that was effectively decided in the opening frame, it wasn't nearly enough. Teddy Bear advanced; bankESB's season comes to an end.
