Six-Run Sixth Ends It Early as Teddy Bear Rolls Past St. Joe's, 11–1
Drobiak allows just one hit across six innings; Magni, Frometa, and Griggs pace a 10-hit Teddy Bear attack that triggers the mercy rule
Teddy Bear Pools and Spas had been patient through five innings on Friday at St. Joseph's Field, building a modest 5–1 lead through small ball and timely hitting. Then the sixth inning arrived, and patience gave way to a six-run eruption that ended the game on the mercy rule — an 11–1 final that snaps St. Joe's modest home winning streak and sends Teddy Bear home with one of their most complete offensive performances of the season.
Teddy Bear got on the board first in the third when Toth doubled to score one. The Saints answered in the fourth when Ryan O'Leary delivered a sacrifice fly to tie it at one, but a Griggs single in the bottom half put Teddy Bear back in front, 2–1, and the home club never looked back. Three more runs in the fifth stretched the lead to 5–1, and then came the sixth: Jimenez doubled to score one, Frometa singled to drive in two, Griggs drew a walk to score another, and Ryan Magni capped the inning with a two-run single. Six runs, four hits, and a mercy rule finish.
Drobiak was nearly untouchable for Teddy Bear, going all six innings on just 72 pitches, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two and walking three. Mark Jodoin's fourth-inning single was the only hit St. Joe's could muster against him all day. Offensively, Teddy Bear was balanced from top to bottom — Magni, Frometa, and Ryan Toth each collected two hits, with Magni and Frometa each driving in two runs, and Griggs adding two RBI of his own from the DH spot. The club was also flawless in the field, committing zero errors across the six innings with Evans handling seven chances cleanly.
For the Saints, it was a rough night across the board. Jackson Hayes started and went three innings allowing one run, but the bullpen could not hold. Jack Feltovic allowed four runs in two innings, and Jake Hayes came on in relief and was touched for six in just two-thirds of an inning as the sixth-inning dam broke. Three Saints errors contributed to the damage. St. Joe's travel to the Spartans on Monday looking to reset.
